US resident Megan Trautwein discovered herself with a dangerous illness thanks to a selfie, Fox 13 News reports.
During a trip to New York in 2016, she noticed that her eyelid was drooping in a selfie and consulted a doctor. After examination, the American woman was diagnosed with meningioma, a brain tumor. The woman underwent a course of treatment: several operations and radiation therapy.
Trautwein also learned that she is a carrier of a mutation in the PTEN gene, which increases the risk of cancer. She underwent an examination, as a result of which several more tumors were identified at an early stage, which were successfully removed.
Megan currently works at the cancer center where she was treated.
