100-year-old World War II veteran Eugene Russo has revealed the secrets to his longevity. Among the main factors, he named giving up sugar and salt, as well as drinking a shot of vodka daily, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Eugene Russo, who lives in New York, attributes his longevity to a healthy lifestyle. He prefers eggplant and fish dishes, and also regularly consumes vegetables and fruits.

Since the age of 70, he has stopped adding sugar and salt to his food, which, he says, has allowed him to avoid the need to take large amounts of medication. The veteran notes that he still has healthy teeth and hair. In addition, Russo has been involved in bodybuilding for a long time.
